OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The Heroes Journey Inc's purpose is to enable youth from all social and economic backgrounds to grow creatively, intellectually, and socially through the hobby of rules-mediated interactive storytelling and related forms of gaming, and to help them connect with a larger creative community.
WHAT IS THE HEROES JOURNEY?
The Heroes Journey is one we all take.
It is the process of discovering, and deciding, who we are, our place in the world, and the story we will write.
The Heroes Journey,inc equips underserved children for this journey with better educational and emotional tools.
We provide guides with adult mentorship and develop strong peer groups to make the journey together.
HOW DO GAMES HELP CHILDREN?
We believe that rules-mediated interactive storytelling and related forms of gaming empower children to explore skills and challenges more enthusiastically. Local community settings allow for pressure free, fun and friendly learning.
The mentorship provided by adult Heroes, and the nature of gaming with peers, fosters healthy relationship building, civic involvement, confidence building and communication skills along with traditional educational development.
